News from Alertacall plus articles and insights on how to enhance outcomes for people with higher needs in the housing, health and social care sectors.
In October, we sponsored an in-person round table event in London, hosted by Sir Norman Lamb, former MP and Minister for Care and Support, for CEOs and Senior Leaders of Social Housing to discuss the new Consumer Standards and how they impact older and vulnerable people.
Sir Norman was joined by Jenny Spoor, Director of Operations at Havebury, Rachel Crownshaw, Group Managing Director, Communities at Places for People, Matt Baird of The Social Housing Round Table and James Batchelor, founder and Chief Executive of Alertacall.
The event started with a knowledgeable and inspiring talk from Sir Norman Lamb who was passionate in ensuring that older and vulnerable people were at the forefront of his audience’s minds. He was followed by Jenny Spoor who shared Havebury’s experience of embedding strategies for the Consumer Standards, resulting in a recent C1 grading.
Subsequently, Rachel Crownshaw was interviewed by Matt Baird of The Social Housing Round Table on Places for People’s equally fantastic approach to the Consumer Standards.
Following the talks, each delegate table was invited to discuss one of the Consumer Standards in Social Housing, with the first table discussing the overall view of the combined standards, before later coming together to share as a group.
The day was full of insight and learnings from some of housing’s top leaders. It was fascinating to hear how much consensus there was, with some great points raised and a willingness to work together and share challenges and best practices. There’s still a long way to go in the sector but there is already fantastic progress in meeting these new Consumer Standards.
